Cold-work steel
For tools operating up to 200°C, with high wear resistance, hardness and toughness and the ability to withstand mechanical pressure. Used for dies, cutting tools and punches.
- High wear resistance
- High hardness and toughness
- For dies, cutting tools and punches
Hot-work steel
For tools used above 300°C in hot metal forming, engineered to resist heat checking, thermal fatigue and plastic deformation. Typical uses are rollers, forging tools and die-casting moulds.
- For hot forming above 300°C
- Resists heat checking and thermal fatigue
- For rollers, forging tools and die-casting moulds
Plastic mould steel
Primarily for tools and moulds that make plastic parts and form light metals such as zinc and aluminium, where high resistance to abrasive and corrosive wear is required.
- For moulds making plastic parts
- High resistance to abrasive and corrosive wear
- Also for light metals such as zinc and aluminium
High-speed steel
An alloyed steel with high wear resistance and cutting ability for high-friction applications such as turning tools, drills and mills. Retains its strength up to 600°C.
- High wear resistance and cutting ability
- Retains strength up to 600°C
- For turning tools, drills and mills
Powder steel
A high-performance form of tool steel made by powder metallurgy — steel is reduced to powder and pressed into a finer microstructure. It withstands higher loads and lasts longer than conventionally made steel.
- High-performance
- Finer microstructure
- Withstands higher loads
